Dr. Kypros Nicolaides
Professor Kypros Nicolaides, was born in Paphos Cyprus in 1953 and was an English School student from 1962 to 1968. He carried on with his studies at King’s College, from where he went on making his programme of research and teaching fetal medicine as a professor. He is one of the pioneers of foetal surgery, and his innovative work in endoscopic laser surgery revolutionized treatment towards the twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. Over the years, he became the doctor who saved the lives of thousands of babies, and is considered to be one of the greatest achievers in health and medicine. He was elected to the US National Academy of Medicine in 2020 for 'improving the care of pregnant women worldwide with pioneering rigorous and creative approaches and making seminal contributions to prenatal diagnosis and every major obstetrical disorder'. Professor Nicolaides’ discoveries over health are released and presented on the Netflix Series, the Surgeon’s Cut.
